Fables 3

Prelim:  8.5" x 11", graphite on bond
Final Painting:  18" x 24", oil paint on MDF Board

The final painting is much more stunning than the published cover would let on, and it's a shame that the sides were cropped, as there is a very interesting creature in the bottom right corner of the painting that is missing from the cover.  It looks like Colin the Pig was a late addition, as he doesn't make an appearance in the prelim.

It is interesting to note that a male friend of James' posed as a reference for the old woman. Also, a lot of the detail was lost when DC scanned the cover, and the actual painting is even still more impressive in person.
