Prelim:  5.5" x 8.5", graphite and colored pencil on bond
Final Drawing:  7.25" x 11.25", graphite on Bristol

One of those covers that is very striking in its final published form...but is somewhat sparse as a piece of original art.

James' comments, from Wizard magazine #171 (January, 2006):

"The original sketch was quite simple and graphic, and could have worked, but it was missing a visual twist or invention that I like to achieve in every cover.  After playing with Photoshop, inverting everything seemed to make it work!"
